Tirolerblut in the making
Innsbruck is the backdrop of the new ORF/ARD crime series “Tirolerblut” (working title), led by multiple ROMY Award–winner Ursula Strauss as Chief Inspector Fanny Gruber. I had the opportunity to join the production through RUNDFILM as the film’s still photographer, capturing selected scenes, character portraits, and behind-the-scenes moments throughout the shoot.
Working on set is always a dance between adrenaline and patience. Some days begin before sunrise, with the mountains still wrapped in mist, while others stretch deep into the night as the crew chases the perfect take. On our second day, we created the key visuals with Ursula Strauss and Noah L. Perktold — a session so effortless and professional that it set the tone for the entire project.
Together with my second shooter, Christoph Izmenyi, we spent 13 full days on set, moving between scenes, weather shifts, and countless moments worth preserving. I’m incredibly grateful to the cast and crewfor their trust, warmth, and collaboration and director of photography Hanno Lentz for his light.
Can’t wait to share more soon.
INNSBRUCK. Until November 18, 2025, two films with the working titles “Tirolerblut – In Cold Water” and “Tirolerblut – A Deep Fall” are being produced in original locations in Tyrol and Vienna, based on scripts by Grimme Award winner Christian Jeltsch. Alongside Ursula Strauss as Fanny Gruber, the cast includes Noah L. Perktold as her son Tobi, Allegra Tinnefeld as her daughter Anna, Sven-Eric Bechtolf as her father Hannes, and Kai Ivo Baulitz as her ex-husband Günther. Other roles feature well-known actors such as Cornelius Obonya, Aaron Karl, Susanne Michel, Martin Leutgeb, and Harald Schrott.
Directed by Matthias Tiefenbacher, this co-production tells the story of three generations of an Innsbruck police family living under one roof — and their very different ways of dealing with the crimes they must solve. “Tirolerblut” is a co-production by filmpool fiction and Rundfilm with ORF and ARD Degeto Film for ARD, supported by FISAplus, Film in Austria (ABA), the Austrian Television Fund, and the Cine Tirol Film Commission.
